{"id":3254,"date":"2023-09-26T10:39:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T14:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crfc-fcrc.ca\/?p=3254"},"modified":"2023-09-26T10:39:00","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T14:39:00","slug":"executive-director-alex-freedman-appears-at-federal-government-pre-budget-hearings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/crfc-fcrc.ca\/en\/executive-director-alex-freedman-appears-at-federal-government-pre-budget-hearings\/","title":{"rendered":"Executive Director Alex Freedman Appears at Federal Government Pre-Budget Hearings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our Executive Director Alex Freedman appeared at the government&#8217;s pre-budget hearings to make a case for supporting community, Indigenous, and campus radio.\u00a0 We are pleased to be able to present a modest request to the government that, if approved, will allow these stations to continue to serve their community and support listeners by providing vital local news and information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn Canada, there are more than 235 community, campus, and Indigenous radio stations,\u201d said Freedman at the hearings. \u201cRecently passed amendments to the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Broadcasting Act<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> defined the critical role they play in these communities by stating that they are uniquely positioned to serve smaller and remote communities.
