38 Stations To Receive Funding From The Community Radio Fund of Canada

The Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC) is proud to announce that 38 campus and community radio stations will receive project-based funding through the 2024-2025 Radiometres program.

Now in its 13th year, Radiometres aims to strengthen the campus-community broadcasting sector through the development of engaging Canadian Content. The program targets three main priorities: content creation, skills development, and digital initiatives.

CFBU, located in St. Catharines, Ontario is one of the recipient stations of Radiometres funding this year. “Finding Our Voice” is a radio production training program to support individuals experiencing mental illness and addiction challenges. The participants will produce a radio program that elevates their voices and perspectives.

“We are extremely grateful for the assistance from the CRFC,” said Deborah Cartmer, CFBU’s Program Director. We are honored to collaborate with the insightful and creative individuals at Willow Arts on this project. CRFC funding will help us give a voice to those with lived and living experience with mental illness and substance use in Niagara.”

“L’école des arts” is a new French-language project at CIDI in Knowlton-Brome Lake, Quebec aimed at supporting the artistic community and imparting children and youth with arts education as well as radio production skills.

“It’s our raison d’être to provide a voice for our Anglophone community, but the Francophone community is made up of our friends and neighbours,” said Tony Mason, CIDI’s Station Manager. “We’re delighted to work with The Sutton School of Art on this. We hope to kickstart a long and fruitful partnership.”

CFIM in L’Étang-du-Nord, Québec will be producing a series of interviews with elders to preserve the collective memory of the Magdalen Islands archipelago.

The CRFC wishes to acknowledge and thank commercial radio stations who, through their contributions to Canadian Content Development, provide the critical funding to make this program possible.
