Applications for the 2025-2027 Changing Narratives Fund-Local Journalism Initiative are now being accepted

December 3, 2025 – OTTAWA, ON

The Community Media Coalition, represented by the Community Radio Fund of Canada, is pleased to announce that applications for the 2025-2027 round of the Changing Narratives Fund-Local Journalism Initiative (CNF-LJI) are now being accepted.  

The Changing Narratives Fund (CNF) is a new initiative that will prioritize the hiring of Indigenous, Black, racialized, ethnoreligious minority, persons with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQIA+ journalists in media organizations to produce original, local civic journalism for underserved communities across Canada. These journalists will participate in mentoring, training, and other professional development activities to promote growth and advancement at all career levels.

Applications for the CNF-LJI program will be accepted via our online portal


Important dates and deadlines: 

December 3, 2025 – Applications Open 

December 21, 2025 – Applications Close

December 22, 2025 – January 16, 2026 – Assessment and Selection Process

January 19, 2026 – Notification of results


Organizations interested in applying to CNF-LJI should review
the program guidelines and all other documentation carefully. This will be a competitive process that will be fair, equitable, and transparent.
