As part of their project, CIMS-FM brought on-air students from five schools in the region of Restigouche, New Brunswick. Over a hundred youths had the opportunity to receive radio training and to create radio programs based on their selection of music and information as well as discussions of their achievements and passions.
“Finding projects that involve local schools or organizations that work with youth bridges the gap between community media and this youth that is often unaware of the existence, importance and opportunities of local media”, according to Gary Ouellette, Station Manager of CIMS-FM.
