The Community Radio Fund of Canada welcomes Meredith Lister to its Board of Directors

Meredith Lister

OTTAWA, ON (January 16, 2024) – The Community Radio Fund of Canada is celebrating the appointment of Meredith Lister to its board of directors.

Lister was a volunteer and Station Manager at Heatwave Radio in Kelowna, B.C. before joining the board of the National Campus and Community Radio Association.

Lister has an interest in governance and finance and is currently a senior software developer at LyricFind, a company that collects royalties for songwriters and provides song lyrics to clients. She is immediately connected to the broadcasting industry and actively monitors developments that impact the radio sector.

“Local, community-run radio has become even more vital as large platforms restrict news and become flooded with misinformation,” said Lister. “I’m eager to contribute however I can to supporting Canadian stations.”

During her time in community radio, Lister has worked closely alongside volunteers, which is a key element to the success of community broadcasting.

“The Community Radio Fund of Canada has been actively seeking representation among a younger set of Canadians.  At 24 years old, Meredith will be among our youngest board members,” said CRFC Board Vice President Nathan Wright. “We are looking forward to her perspective on matters that are critical to the funding of Indigenous, community, and campus broadcasters.”

Lister was elected to a two-year term on the board at the AGM held on November 21st, 2023.
