The Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC) seeks and secures resources to fuel the production, distribution, and sustainability of Canada’s community audio broadcasters through dynamic funding programs.
Role:
The CRFC is seeking a dynamic and creative Communications Specialist to play a key role in executing our external communications and outreach efforts. This Canada Summer Jobs position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vital sector while developing your communications skills. The ideal candidate will possess basic design skills, strong written communication abilities, and the capacity to thrive in both independent and collaborative settings.
Objective:
The Communications Specialist will be responsible for supporting our external communications strategy through engaging content for email, newsletters, social media platforms, and our website.
Start Date: Monday, June 2, 2025 (Canada Summer Jobs eligibility requirements apply)
Location: Ottawa, ON (candidate must be based in Ottawa)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and produce compelling communications materials tailored for various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, X).
- Maintain and curate the CRFC’s social media presence, ensuring consistent and engaging content.
- Monitor social media channels and respond effectively to inquiries and comments from users and visitors.
- Develop and design visually appealing images, graphics, and other digital assets to enhance online and social media engagement.
- Assist in the creation and distribution of an informative online newsletter for CRFC members and key stakeholders.
- Provide support in the overall planning and implementation of the CRFC’s broader communications strategy.
- Undertake other duties as required to support the team.
Qualifications:
- Basic design skills (familiarity with design software is an asset).
- Strong written communication skills in English. Proficiency in French is a significant asset.
- Experience managing social media accounts for an organization or project is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- A passion for community radio and its role in Canadian society is an asset.
- Must meet the eligibility criteria for the Canada Summer Jobs program.
